Hargis is currently providing hydrogeologic consulting services to the San Carlos Irrigation and Drainage District for the strategic replacement of poorly-producing and/or damaged irrigation wells. Replacement wells have been deemed necessary so that the SCIDD can continue to satisfy its water
demand largely with groundwater as the future availability of Central Arizona Project water diminishes.

Scope of Work
The initial phase of Hargis’ work with SCIDD included compiling and evaluating all existing local area hydrogeologic reports, groundwater data, well construction details, and well performance data.

Following completion of the data review, and in consultation with SCIDD, Hargis identified six wells for potential replacement and provided recommendations for replacement well construction and design specifications.

Project Status

Hargis’ recommendations were approved by SCIDD and replacement well drilling, construction, and
testing is currently ongoing with field oversight provided by Hargis.

The replacement wells range in depth from approximately 400 to 1,000 feet, constructed with 20-inch diameter steel casing and 20-inch well screen. Replacement well pumping rates are anticipated to range from 1,000 to 3,000 gallons per minute.
