HYDROGEOLOGY INTERN

Phoenix, AZ

Hargis + Associates, Inc. is pleased to offer a paid hydrogeology internship in our Phoenix (Mesa), AZ office supporting environmental investigation and remediation projects located throughout Arizona.  This position is geared toward geology and environmental science students interested in an exciting and educational opportunity.  Interns will have the opportunity to work with top engineers and hydrogeologists and gain real-world experience on environmental remediation and groundwater related projects.

Dependent upon project needs, interns may assist with office related tasks such as data entry and manipulation, graphics, report documentation and other project tasks.  There will also be opportunity for assistance and training with data collection and various types of fieldwork depending on project needs.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must have the physical ability to conduct field work tasks, have completed basic
water-related engineering/geologic courses, have an upper-division status, and have a strong interest in a career in environmental remediation or water resources.  Candidates should have excellent communication and computer skills and enjoy a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

REQUIREMENTS

·       2-3 years higher education in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related field.

·       Knowledge of MS Word Office Suite Products, GIS and other environmental software experience a plus.

·       May be required to travel up to 50% of the time to project sites; valid driver’s license.

·       Excellent organization and sound written/verbal communication skills.

·       Local candidates only; must be eligible to work in the United States.  (No relocation provided.)

·       Comply with all Health and Safety policies.

·       Preferred but not mandatory – 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and current 8-Hour HAZWOPER Refresher.  (Company sponsorship may be available for HAZWOPER training.)

·       Must be able to perform the following while conducting field work: stooping/kneeling/crouching, standing for long periods of time, pulling/pushing and lifting equipment and supplies, walking on uneven terrain.

·       Ability to work in outdoor environments and hot/arid conditions.

·       Ability and willingness to work long hours and in proximity to loud noises and hazards
(i.e., proximity to moving mechanical parts, drill rigs, pneumatic equipment, moving vehicles).

·       May be required to wear a respirator.  Proper training and protective equipment will be provided.

·       Some weekend, holiday, and evening work may be required.

ENVIRONMENTAL FIELD TECHNICIAN INTERN

Phoenix, AZ

 

Hargis + Associates, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Field Technician Intern to join our Phoenix (Mesa), AZ office supporting remediation system operation and maintenance (O&M) activities.  Responsibilities include field work; mechanical/electrical upkeep and troubleshooting for groundwater extraction and soil vapor extraction systems, daily routine inspections of remediation treatment systems, and routine sampling tasks.  Interns will have the opportunity to work with top engineers and hydrogeologists and gain real-world experience on environmental remediation and groundwater related projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must have the physical ability to conduct field work tasks and have a strong interest in a career in environmental remediation or water resources.  Experience working with PLC logic, process controls, mechanical systems, pneumatic pump maintenance, hydraulic filter press maintenance, air compressor maintenance and wastewater treatment plant operations preferred.

REQUIREMENTS

·       Ability to perform mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs.

·       High School diploma or equivalency. Technical certificate in industrial maintenance preferred.

·       Candidate must be self-motivated, dedicated, attentive to detail, and very organized.

·       Ability to work well independently as well as in a project team.

·       Excellent organizational and sound written/oral communication skills.

·       Local candidates only; must be eligible to work in the United States.  (No relocation provided.)
