"Nature always tends to act in the simplest way."
~Jacob Bernoulli (Swiss Mathematician, 1654-1705)

We all share an interest in protecting and enhancing our environment. Certainly, this is the goal of environmental regulation. But, however well-intended and carefully designed environmental rules may be, compliance can be a complex undertaking. Historical waste discharges at two different sites may have been similar, but because site conditions differ, impacts may be different. As a result, it is difficult for regulators to write regulations that apply universally to all sites. It may be equally difficult for operations at different sites to comply with a single set of regulations.

Developing the best solution to meet regulatory requirements is a matter of finding the one that is both cost-effective and implementable. This takes experience. That is why Hargis + Assiciates is a valuable resource to businesses providing effective environmental solutions for some of the nation's largest corporations.

We offer a full range of environmental site services including:

  • Groundwater and soil contamination assessments;

  • CERCLA/Superfund investigations;

  • RCRA compliance and facility closure;

  • Design, construction, and operation of remediation systems;

  • Contaminant fate and transport analysis;

  • Risk evaluations;

  • Discharge. construction, and operational permitting;

  • Groundwater flow and solute transport modeling;

  • Whether you are facing compliance with federal, state or local requirements, we can help. At the Apache Powder Superfund Site in Cochise County, Arizona, we designed a wetland system to treat nitrate-contaminated groundwater. The system is simple in its design and operation and involved lower capital expense than other treatment alternatives that were considered. The solution is environmentally friendly and won our firm the inaugural Out-standing Ground Water Remediation Project Award from the National Ground Water Association.

  • At the Hughes Aircraft Company's Ground Systems Group Facilty in Fullerton, California, we designed and implemented an integrated remedial solution involving a soil vapor extraction (SVE) system to remove contaminants above the groundwater table, and a groundwater extraction and treatment system consisting of both vertical and horizontal wells to remove the contaminants from groundwater beneath the site.

  • Whatever the needs of our clients, we are prepared to apply our knowledge to develop cost effective and expedient solutions. Our integrated approach insures success.
